Questions of Implication:
1. What does Jesus mean about "my Father's house are many rooms"? What does this have to do with us?
2. Who is the Helper? Why does Jesus say He is coming?
3. How does Jesus define love?
Points of Application:
- Are you excited to go "home" to heaven? Do you thank God for the fact of preparing a place for His children?
- Evaluate how often do you seek the Holy Spirit for power in your life versus how often you do things by your own power? What do you think it means to walk by the Spirit (Galatians 5:14)? Seek Him out in everything you do whether it big or small?
- How do you demonstrate your love to God? Reread v. 15, 21,23,24 what does it say about how to love God? Where do you seek to know how to keep His commandments? How often do you read your Bible?
Meditate On:
Do you understand that loving God and keeping His commands are tied together. The place where you go to know how to keep His commands is the Bible. If you want to love Jesus you must read your Bibles. As we have been reading through John Jesus has called Himself the "Word", has called himself the "Bread of Life", and has told us how we are to love Him. It is not any clear than in the Gospel of John that we must make it our priority to be in the Bible. We must learn to enjoy and be satisfied with read His Word because it is where we learn to love, walk in obedience, please Him and ultimately glorify Him. What a privilege it is to be able to have the Bible and read it at our freedom. Never take for granted the opportunity to read the Word and thank Him daily for giving us His Word.
